Chemical Engineering Technology
ICT provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design, and construction administration for the 20,000 SF Chemical Engineering Technology Facility (CETF). The CETF was developed in support of the Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation (HSC) plant in Clarksville and APSU’s partnership in providing education for the future plant employees. The facilities’ function is to provide space to educate students to manage the various operations of the HSC plant as well as operations at other chemical manufacturing facilities.
As the HSC plant in Clarksville is intended to provide solar grade silicon for a substantial number of the world’s leading manufacturers, solar panels are included on the roof and the upper skin of the clock tower. Solar panels are used as a key component of the building for aesthetic, functional and educational reasons.
