I. C. Thomasson provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design for the first four phases of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center, beginning in 1977.

At the end of Phase IV, Opryland consisted of 2,870 guest rooms, 200 suites, 15 restaurants, over 8 acres of indoor water gardens, 10 lounges and 25 retail shops. Over 600,000 SF is dedicated to: exhibit facilities totaling 300,000 SF, five ballrooms totaling over 124,000 SF, 85 meeting and breakout rooms, courtyards, outdoor swimming pools, and a remote laundry and powerhouse.
