ICT provided mechanical, plumbing and fire protection services for this new 36,000 SF office and laboratory building commissioned by the University of Tennessee for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The JINS Building serves as the "gateway" to the Chestnut Ridge area of ORNL's campus, reflects the character of the surrounding buildings, and is a focal point for neutron research. Modern computational, communication, and networking services facilitate interactive scientific and video teleconferencing and provide data retrieval and analysis capabilities for resident scholars and their peers around the world.


• Oversized entryway atrium which passes through entire depth of building, north to south, supplying center of building with light throughout the day
• Administrative and Outreach offices located close to center atrium, making it easy for building's users to get oriented
• Lab and office space for scientists located in two wings, with natural light in each office
• Design is sensitive to green building principals
• Four wet labs, 600 SF each
• Four dry labs, 600 SF each
• Four small conference rooms, 300 SF each
• One large conference room, 700 SF
• 35 Classrooms per floor
• Two-story office/lab building (16,000 SF/floor) with lower level mechanical, electrical, storage and recycling area (4,500 SF)
• Copy rooms
