ICT, functioning as the Prime Consultant, provided design services for the emergency generation system upgrade for this mission critical facility. Key elements of the design included evaluation of fuel system infrastructure, detailed phasing plan including provisions for temporary generation, field coordination for both removal, re-installation and constructability, and close coordination with the airport’s maintenance staff. Generation system consisted of two separate 600kW diesel generators, automatic transfer switches, and fuel storage systems. The installation required the strategic removal of existing exterior walls to permit access to the space for installation. Challenges included maintaining emergency generation services during construction for this 24-hour mission critical facility.
