The new three-story, 257,000-sq. ft., state-of-the-art Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) Science Building. The facility houses MTSU’s Chemistry and Biology Departments, along with graduate programs for computational sciences and molecular biology.
The Science Building houses 36 teaching labs, 13 research labs, six classrooms, one research area for integrated life sciences, one research area for computation, 85 faculty and staff offices, informal learning areas, and common spaces. The building features space for student presentations, a three-story atrium, a greenhouse, and a vivarium.
A 3-story glass atrium creates a dramatic entrance to the building and provides elegant space for social gatherings and student presentations. Mechanical penthouses are located on each of the 3 building wings. The project includes 3 separate components: the new Science Building; demolition of 4 dormitory buildings; and a new 10,000-square foot Chiller Plant.
