John Tickle Building, Estabrook Hall Renovation
ICT provided MEP design services for this new 113,900 SF building to house the civil and environmental engineering department. The facility includes 14 Civil Engineering labs, two computer labs, administrative space and four large classrooms. The design work included medium voltage distribution to a 3000-amp main service for the building. Also included was a 250-kW diesel generator feeding essential and non-essential distribution throughout the building. A chilled water system was designed to serve both the new facility and the existing Pasqua Engineering Building. The chilled water plant consisted of two 182-ton packaged air cooled variable speed screw chillers with a primary/secondary pumping system; two pair of pumps in a standby arrangement were installed to serve the Tickle Building and the adjacent Pasqua building. Labs include high bay testing, concrete labs, pavement labs, hydraulics, soils and Geotech labs. A transportation lab and wood/metal workshops are included.

Student Union
ICT provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection design, and construction administration for a new 309,006 SF University Center. Project included meeting rooms, programming spaces, administrative/student services offices, student organizations, recreation, service areas, bookstore, dining services, OIT technology area, lounges, and meeting service support/storage.
The Student Union was a two-phase project. Phase I included a chilled water system that initially served the bookstore. The new Student Union was built in Phase II and is served by the chiller plant installed in Phase I. Domestic Hot water and hydronic hot water are generated through heat exchangers by steam from the central utility plant.
Sustainability:
- Fully integrated building automation system,
- Daylight harvesting
- Integrated lighting controls in select areas
- Indoor air quality management.
- Single zone VAV systems for some large, open spaces
- demand controlled ventilation.
- VRF systems for 24/7 spaces (like communications rooms, AV, main electrical)
- variable kitchen hood exhaust system for production kitchen.
