Marshall Space Flight Center, AL

ICT provided mechanical and plumbing engineering design for a 400,884 GSF, two-phase, Class A, design-build command and control facility for Army Materiel Command (AMC) headquarters and command operations similar to corporate headquarters and emergency operations center.

The project is a Class "A" office design for a four-star general.  The three-story building is for the subordinate USASAC Command.  The headquarters facility includes an extensive emergency power generation system utilized to serve select building loads and an Emergency Operations Center.  The project includes interface with Army Information Management staff for implementation of low voltage systems, adherence to AT/FP requirements, redundant power and HVAC systems for the Emergency Operations Center, and mass notification systems.

The project met AT/FP criteria through the application of the following: (1) All HVAC openings were mounted a minimum of 10 feet above grade; (2) All HVAC openings are equipped with low leakage motorized dampers interlocked with AT/FP "Push Button - Shut Down" for all air moving equipment; (3) Installation of all equipment outside of setbacks; and (4) Installation of AT/FP compliant enclosures around and on top of any MEP equipment inside the 33-foot setback.
