Metro Nashville Public Schools is one of the nation's top 50 largest school districts. Goodlettsville Elementary School is an 80,000 SF replacement facility that serves 620 students in grades Pre-K through 5th Grade. The $22.7 million facility is located on 12 acres. The facility is pursuing LEED v4 BD+C: SC Gold Certification, maintaining a high standard of energy efficiency for MNPS.

ICT completed the engineering design for all mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power and distribution, low voltage, and Information Transport & Systems Design (IT&S) for the facility. Notable design features of these systems include the following:

  • Two-story facility including the following functions: administration, kitchen, dining, library, media center, community room, play-room, instructional coaches, speech, reading, special education, and central receiving
  • 2 Pre-K Classrooms, 4 Kindergarten Classrooms, 4 1st Grade Classrooms, 4 2nd Grade Classrooms, 4 3rd Grade Classrooms, 4 4th Grade Classrooms, 4 5th Grade Classrooms, 11 Resource Classrooms, and 1 Art Classroom
  • High-efficiency vertical geothermal heat pump air handlers for space loads
  • High-efficiency geothermal dedicated outdoor air energy recovery system (DOAS) with demand control ventilation
  • High-efficiency variable volume kitchen hoods with variable volume gas-fired make-up air system
  • High-efficiency condensing natural gas-sealed combustion domestic water heaters
  • 0.51 w/SF lighting design with occupancy/vacancy sensors, daylight sensors, and building lighting control systems
  • 12-acre site lighting design reducing light pollution by surpassing uplight and light trespass requirements
  • 32% building energy efficiency and utility savings over ASHRAE 90.1 - 2010 baseline, achieving a total of 14 of the available 16 energy performance LEED points
  • Advanced Energy Metering of whole-building energy sources and individual energy end uses
  • 25% Domestic water usage reduction utilizing high-efficiency plumbing fixtures
  • Enhanced Outdoor Air Quality Strategies with cross-contamination prevention, MERV-13 filtration, increased ventilation, and carbon dioxide monitoring
  • Security and Access Control Systems, CCTV
  • Technology drawings for voice, data wireless infrastructure pathways, spaces and layout of telecommunications equipment rooms, entrance facilities, and MDF/IDF spaces
  • Public Address/Paging
  • Audio/Video drawings with regard to A/V and CATV infrastructure
  • Horizontal and backbone cabling pathways
