The conservation institute and its propogation programs for lake sturgeon, brook trout, and barrens topminnow are housed in the facility which features two research labs and a teaching lab for high school and college classes. The facility serves as a display center for the region's rich freshwater life. The outreach group consists of a house school-type chemistry lab. The propogation group breeds fish and turtle and consists of tanks and shops. The operations group consists of office area and a Genetics and Ecology lab. Just south of the school's football stadium, Baylor owns the property and is leasing it to the aquarium.
