Three Georgia Landfills
Landfill Gas to Energy
Griffin, Winder, and Buford, GA
ICT provided the mechanical and electrical process design and fire protection design for the three-landfill gas-to-energy projects: Winder, Griffin and Buford.
Mechanical design includes final heating, air conditioning, ventilation and plumbing as needed to support the process, as well as P&IDs for the process. General arrangement drawings and piping and equipment supports are part of the scope. ICT prepared interconnect design documents sufficient for the Owner to negotiate an interconnect agreement with the local utility for the three projects. ICT assisted the Owner to prepare the required interconnection application.
All three sites have gas treatment, Siloxane removal and carbon polishers in the gas stream feeding the engines.
Sustainability:
- Renewable Natural Gas at 3 Landfills
Project Highlights:
- The Winder project contains three 2.2 MW units combusting landfill gas.
- The Griffin project has three units, and the Buford project has five units. All 11 units are 2.2 MW Jenbacher JGS 616 units.
- The Griffin and Buford projects included interconnect substation from the facility voltage to the 115 kV transmission line owned by Georgia Power.
