Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, Oak Bluffs, MA, is a 95,000 square feet, two-story greenfield critical access not-for-profit hospital located on the “Playground of Presidents” Martha’s Vineyard Island just south of Cape Cod. This facility provides healing for not only the 17,000 year-round residents of the island but the exploded summer population of 200,000 during the height of the summer vacation season. The hospital was recently named to a list of the 30 most environmentally friendly hospitals globally, as reported by the website Healthcare Administration Degree Programs.net. The hospital made the list at No. 13.
Notable design features of these systems include the following for the high-performance environment of care and energy goals of this project which was awarded LEED v2.2 Gold Certification, the highest LEED Certificated Hospital in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by the US Green Building Council.
